One of our favourite ladies behind the decks, Pixelton, will be returning to Conception Lab for the third time this December.

Pixelton delivers her signature grooves to the dance floor and always gets them butts-a-wiggling! A veteran and innovator of the Melbourne techno scene, Pixelton has played almost everywhere from underground doofs, club nights, warehouse parties and festivals. Highlights include appearances at Melbourne Techno Collective, residencies at the infamous Teriyaki and Revolver Saturday mornings as well as sets at Earthcore and Rainbow Serpent.

Pixelton is famous for her deep, distinctive sound and wicked attitude, don’t miss your chance to see this innovator in action at the next Conception Lab party.



Zombie Bass is a force to be reckoned with! A dark new Melbourne talent with a passion for deep, mind bending and solid construction. As well as being one of the brains behind the hugely successful Cooinda Music Festival event, he has played at numerous events around Melbourne including Sunday Sessions at the Railway Hotel, supporting internationals Alex Stein and DubDogz, and he has also recently teamed up with Tekstep for EARTH music festival.

Zombie represents the new techno underworld, he will be bringing his unique, twisted brand of musical attitude to the Conception Lab dance floor, so be prepared to travel to places unseen, as Neptune’s own son delivers a solid sonic journey, sure to split your mind into it’s elements!


Servalan (live analogue)

You might have caught Pat or Gavin causing a stir at Melbourne institutions such as Honkytonks, Deep 11, Pony or at one of many underground warehouse parties in and around Melbourne.  They were behind the Deep Chord club night, playing live shows as Foal, and involved in other collectives including Messy Creations. Their new sound has morphed into a analogue-driven, improvised, spaced out dance floor friendly, deep techno.



Mbug, the man behind Conception Lab, has been living, breathing and playing electronic dance music since the early 90s. 

Over the years Mbug has held numerous residencies and guest slots at seminal Melbourne club nights including Club Filter, Tectronic, Virus, Protozoa, Teriyaki, Centrifugal, Flirt, Lectroland, and Synchronicity. No stranger to large events Mbug has also played at many memorable warehouse parties and doofs, as well as gigs such as Frantic, Collision and Earthcore Carnival. 

Mbug has also been very much involved in promoting dance music in Australia. Highlights include joining forces with Susan Bird in 1999 to create Messy Creations. Working with Robin Mutoid and Pixelated Pyro in 2008 to design, set-up and perform at the Mighty Burning Demon Festival in the S.A desert. Now, returning to the the Melbourne warehouse scene, MBug is working to revive it to its former old-sckool glory through Conception Lab. 

As a DJ Mbug's ability to unite people on the dance floor has continued to evolve. He manages to fluidly cross genres and take you on an ever building and uplifting journey through techno, minimal, electro, progressive, trance and tribal sounds. Mbug has a knack for sensing the mood of the crowd, and providing just what is needed when it is needed, always leaving you satisfied.



DJ Lawyer by day, DJ by night, Dj Hijacq will solicit you to the dance floor!

DJ Hijacq is a vinyl only DJ that has played at events in the Melbourne party scene for over a decade. Always maintaining a ‘quality over quantity’ attitude to the sets she plays has seen DJ Hijacq behind the decks at a number of renowned underground parties.  Highlights include numerous sets at the much loved, and now infamous, Messy Creations, as well as playing at Pinksilver record label parties and Morebass events.  

DJ Hijacq’s ability to connect with the crowd while seamlessly mixing a range of styles and genres, from alluring female vocal  tracks, glitchy minimal, to tech house, guarantees a rocking dance floor every time she gets behind the decks.



Miyagi is a well-established DJ within the Melbourne electronic scene. Renowned for his rocking bass heavy house, minimal tech and techno sets, he has built his reputation over the past 16 years, playing alongside the likes of Super Flu, Trent Moller, Shapeshifter, Shpongle, Mathew Jonson and Michael Mayer to name a few.

Miyagi holds various residencies in some of Melbourne's best underground clubs where he displays his distinct style of bass heavy beats. His current residencies are with Sunny, Pitch and Instinct parties.

Miyagi has played internationally and at every major city on the east coast, he has also made several guest mixes for Triple J and has played at some of the best electronic music festival in Australia such as Rainbow Serpent, Earthcore, Parklife, Forgotten Kindom and Kiss My Grass.

Miyagi's precise mixing, sense of fun and enthusiasm always fills the floor and translates his music to inspire a great party. Come check him out and get locked in on the dance floor.


Roxy Monoxide 

Notorious personality of the Melbourne underground scene, Denby has played under many names over the years and with many Melbourne institutions including Messy Creation, Virus and Earthcore. Coming out of a decade of retirement, Denby AKA Roxy Monoxide, will once again be serving up a platter of satisfying vinyl delights!



We are so excited to be welcoming Illimite back to Conception Lab for the third time!

Illimite is currently taking the Melbourne underground party scene by storm – with regular gigs in and around Melbourne including Ergot gathering, regular appearances playing on the BFG sound system, Sunday sessions at the Railway, plus his much anticipated upcoming set at the Sundala stage at Earthcore this November.

Illimite is a master of the amen break in all its guises, expect a cross genre set, traversing old skool jungle to psy glitch from this up and coming star. If you haven’t been lucky enough to catch him on a dance floor recently, now is your chance.


Dystopia's gender bending has been evolving at light speed since their conception just 6 months ago.

A professionally trained performer in musical theatre, television and all things behind the scenes, Dystopia will be front and centre as they make their debut performance at the next Conception Lab.

An alien to many, this being is ready to beam you up and send you into a galactic frenzy as they open the night, our hearts and the portals of the multiverse that allows us to find the you in me. 


Jacquie AKA  Sparkarella  has always had a love of dance, stepping on stage for the first time aged 5. She was classically trained with the Southern Ballet Company in New Zealand for 17 years.  Moving to London she delved into the circus arts and trained and performed extensively throughout Europe and England with acro-contemporary troupe-Zoid Induction.

On moving to Australia  in 2001, she created dance trio Hektix.  With the resurgence of Burlesque in Melbourne she co-founded and performed with the notorious neo-burlesque troupe Voodoo Trash Dolls! This was where her fiery alter ego Sparkarella was born. During this period she discovered pole dancing and eventually created Bottoms Up! Burlesque & Pole School.

Currently Jacquie performs as a solo artist,  choreographs and produces events within Bottoms Up!, trains and mentors students,  dances and performs tango, burlesque and pole, and can often be seen with an angle grinder!


The last Kindred Surprize show at Conception Lab left all amazed, by their powerful rendition of the original track ‘Identify’, and by the support dancers moonlighting from the Australian Ballet Company.

Activism, art and high-level performance skills have led Kindred Surprize to work for organizations such as the Australian Cancer Council, Beyond Blue, Refugee Action Collective and One With Orlando.

Kindred Surprize also brings radiant creative energy to underground clubs such as Honcho Disko, Beaút and Max Freak on a regular basis. Their upcoming debut album ‘I AM IT IS’ is due for release at the end of 2016 and in Kindred’s own words “We’ll be launching into space”.

Kindred Surprize is a multi-talented performer whose show will leave you inspired and joyful- this homosapien is one not to be missed!
